Bramble & Bloom is going off-grid!

There’s been so much going on here at Bramble & Bloom. Our plants are blooming and have needed our extra love and support throughout the crazy hot weather here in the Southeast of England! One of the best things about growing in Wales though, is there will be no shortage of rain – generally, throughout the year. So, our plan this year, as we move the operation to the beautiful Pembrokeshire hills, is to create a rain-collection system so we can make good use of the beautiful Welsh weather and use the mains water as backup only. I reckon we could fill a few swimming pools in the Welsh rain, but my (occasionally more reasonable) husband says a few tanks will suffice. We’ll see about that…

Before that though, we’ll be harvesting the sun! As there's definitely no electric supply on our land.

In just a couple of months’ time, our whole set-up will be solar powered. I mean, we air-dry where possible, but dehydrators help too sometimes, as does a handy dehumidifier, a small heater… oh and fans! It’s really important to make sure the moisture level is adequately low before packaging our herbs – we take that seriously so if power is needed, we use it. The whole operation and planned set-up is taking some time to build but it will be worth it for your little nibblers.

Maybe from the picture you can guess one of the special ingredients in July's box? The clue is, it's known for being fresh and calming. Our other special ingredient in July is loved for being a cleansing hedgerow classic that grows wild on the land - can you guess what that might be too? Of course, all the familiar stems, herbs, flowers and roots will be included too as standard. Remember to introduce herbs slowly if July’s herbs are new to your little ones, but rest assured it’s all grown naturally without chemicals, packed with love and decades of experience caring for and feeding thousands of furry friends.

I can’t wait to pack next month’s boxes for you, it’s a wonderful job for the scent alone! And of course I’ll be brewing myself a cup of tea or two from July’s wholesome herbs – it’s sensory heaven!

Well... that's this month's news. Next month maybe I'll have something rather substantial to share as our new, huge, commercial polytunnel is in the making and will be built... you guessed it, by us! Our teenagers have no idea what's in store for them this summer - the learning opportunities are endless he-he. Stay tuned...

Until next month, I hope you and your little ones are keeping cool as cucumbers in this heat :-)
